The BA team won the race to Tokyo, with mixed comfort reports. We arrive mid-morning (definitely still feels like 2am to us!) and it is stiflingly hot with bright sunshine. Everyone slips their shades on and suddenly – we’re on tour!
It’s a one and a half hour coach ride from Narita airport to our hotels and we get a brief taste of the country – rice fields, abundant tropical vegetation, lots of water and the port of Tokyo.
We are met by the General Manager with a wonderfully efficient system of providing room keys, train passes, maps, breakfast vouchers, ID tags and bundles of currency to over one hundred people!
The rest of the day is spent unpacking, freshening up and locating the local shops and restaurants. Tour HQ is set up in the Grand Prince Hotel with essentials like a company notice board and even practice rooms!
I believe a small posse has headed straight off on the train to stay over in Kyoto and to take full advantage of tomorrow’s day off with some hard-core sightseeing – truly impressive!
Most of us are just trying to stay awake until a half-reasonable bed time…
