Ekaterina Siurina replaced by Lucy Crowe for Rigoletto on 7 and 21 April
British soprano to sing role of Gilda.
Lucy Crowe will replace Ekaterina Siurina for the performances of Rigoletto on 7 and 21 April after the Russian soprano has had to withdraw due to personal reasons.
These performances will mark Lucy’s debut in the role.
The British soprano made her debut with The Royal Opera as Belinda in Dido and Aeneas in March 2009 and returned to sing the role of Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier. Other appearances include the aforementioned role of Sophie for Bavarian State Opera and in Berlin; Adina (The Elixir of Love), Poppea (Agrippina) and Drusilla (L’incoronazione di Poppea) for ENO and Mystery/Juno (The Fairy Queen) for Glyndebourne, in Paris and New York. Future plans include the title role in The Cunning Little Vixen for Glyndebourne and Servilia (La clemenza di Tito) at the Metropolitan Opera, New York.
Ekaterina Siurina will sing the role of Gilda as scheduled on 30 March, 2, 4, 11, 17 April at 7.30pm and 14 April at 12.30pm.

So that's 2 out of 3 principal singers replaced on 7 April. Gee, thanks!
If you haven't heard Lucy Crowe live before you are in for a reall treat. This should add to the performance.
Having already bought tickets for Rigoletto for 21 April, I am absolutely delighted that we shall be hearing Lucy Crowe as Gilda. A real bonus!
On the website for the cast for Rigoletto on 21st April, Ekaterina Siurina is billed as singing Gilda. I assume that this is a mistake.
2 out of 3 principals replaced? You may be getting mixed up with 4th April when Francesco Meli is singing the Duke of Mantua - but Platanias and Grigolo are both still down for 7th April...
As for me, I'm going to have to go more than once now. I'd love to hear Lucy Crowe as Gilda.
I watched the performance with Lucy Crowe on the 7th April. she was great for her debut. And Dimitri Platanias is stunning! Gardiners music as well.
I was lucky enough to get a last minute ticket for Rigoletto last night - 21 April. It was a wonderful night, and Lucy Crowe was absolutely fabulous as Gilda: glorious sound, real rhythmic direction, superb phrasing and all round lovely singing. Thank you.
