Thanks to everyone who has already supported our Pointe Shoes Appeal, which helps us meet the considerable cost of keeping The Royal Ballet in shoes each Season. We have already raised £25,000 since Mara Galeazzi and Edward Watson launched the Appeal in April.
To help us towards our target, £1 will be donated towards the appeal for every glass of Ruinart Rosé NV sold during June by our in-house catering partner Company of Cooks and champagne partners Ruinart.
It might seem hard to believe but over 11,000 pairs of pointe shoes and almost 2,000 pairs of men’s flats are required during the 11 months each year that the Company is performing, at a cost of over £250,000. Each pair of pointe shoes costs £36 and a pair of men’s flats costs £18, with £5 helping us meet us cost of the heavy duty elastic that supports a dancer’s ankle in a pair of pointes.
Make a donation to the appeal online or during June, when you’re at the Royal Opera House, drink pink to help keep the dancers of The Royal Ballet in shoes.
