Casting confirmed for The Winter's Tale

Christopher Wheeldon's adaptation of Shakespeare's tragicomedy features six major roles.

Casting has been confirmed for Christopher Wheeldon's new ballet The Winter's Tale, based on the play by William Shakespeare.

The first cast includes Lauren Cuthbertson, Edward Watson, Sarah Lamb, Steven McRaeZenaida Yanowsky and Federico Bonelli.

Update: The second cast will feature Marianela Nuñez, Thiago Soares, Beatriz Stix-Brunell, Vadim Muntagirov, Laura Morera and Valeri Hristov.

The Winter's Tale opens on 10 April 2014. It will be screened live in cinemas around the world on 28 April.

The Winter’s Tale is a co-production with The National Ballet of Canada. The ballet is staged with generous philanthropic support from The Monument Trust. Generous support is also offered by Mrs Susan A Olde OBE, the Metherell Family, Lady Ashcroft, Celia Blakey, Sarah and Lloyd Dorfman, Sir Simon and Lady Robertson, The Taylor Family Foundation, Mr and Mrs Edward Atkin CBE, Richard and Delia Baker, Kenneth and Susan Green, David Hancock, Randa Khoury, Lindsay and Sarah Tomlinson, Doug and Ceri King, Sir Roger and Lady Carr, The Winter’s Tale Production Syndicate and an anonymous donor.

  1. It looks and promises to be very exciting. I hope to see the matinee if I am in London at that time or in the cinema if at all possible. I thought The Nutcracker worked extremely well in the cinema last month. best wishes. Alan Halliday

    Do we know yet if Lauren Cuthbertson will dance Principle Ballerina for the live cinema production of A Winters Tale at the end of April.

    Great news that Lauren will be dancing for the 28 April screening. Hopefully Federico and Zenaida will be as well
