[Update: Maria Bengtsson will now sing all performances during September and October]

Due to health reasons, Welsh soprano Rebecca Evans has withdrawn from the role of Countess Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro in September and October 2013.

The role of Countess Almaviva will be sung for all autumn performances by Swedish soprano Maria Bengtsson.  She made her debut with The Royal Opera in 2009 singing Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi and returned to sing Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte in September 2010. She has previously sung the role of Countess Almaviva for Cologne Opera, in Berlin, Vienna, Dresden and Stockholm. Her other recent roles include Donna Anna in Don Giovanni at La Fenice, Venice and for Aix-en-Provence Festival, Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail in Munich, and Poppea in L’incoronazione di Poppea in Cologne.

How could I reach \Ms Maria Bengtsson. Her performance last night in Marriage was superb. I just hope she is coming to the Met in New York some time soon
