Cast change: James Platt and John Bernays to sing in Eugene Onegin on 7 January 2016

The singers replace Brindley Sherratt in the roles of Prince Gremin and Zaretski.

James Platt will sing the role of Prince Gremin and Australian baritone John Bernays will perform as Zaretski in tonight's final performance of Kasper Holten's production of Eugene Onegin.

The singers replace Brindley Sherratt due to illness in tonight's final performance of the run.

James Platt joined the Jette Parker Young Artist programme at the start of the 2014/15 Season. In his first Season his roles included Second Man in Armour in Die Zauberflöte and Doctor Grenvil in La traviata on the main stage.

He also sang the role of Blansac in La scala di seta during Meet the Young Artists Week in the Linbury Studio Theatre and Charon in Orfeo at the Roundhouse. In the 2015/16 Season he has sung Zaretsky in Eugene Onegin and  also returns to the role of Doctor Grenvil in La traviata and sings the role of a Frontier Guard in Boris Godunov.

John Bernays has been a member of the Royal Opera Chorus since 2002. His roles for The Royal Opera have included Yamadori in Madama Butterfly, Chernikovsky in Boris Godunov and the Sergeant in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk. He has also performed with English Touring Opera, Kent Opera and at the Théâtre du Châtelet, Paris.

The rest of the cast remains unchanged.
