Elisabeth Meister will replace Eva-Maria Westbroek as Santuzza in the Easter Chorus from Cavalleria rusticana, part of the Our Extraordinary World Gala, on Tuesday 30 October.

Elisabeth is a former member of the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme. She is currently singing the roles of Helmwige in Die Walküre and Third Norn in Götterdämmerung in Keith Warner’s production of Der Ring des Nibelungen for The Royal Opera. Her previous roles for the Royal Opera include First Lady in Die Zauberflöte, Fox in The Cunning Little Vixen and High Priestess in Aida.

The Our Extraordinary World Gala is given in celebration of HM The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, and will feature artists from both The Royal Opera and The Royal Ballet.

Highlights from The Royal Opera will include the Royal Opera Chorus performing the stirring ‘Freudig begrüssen’ from Tannhäuser, Roberto Alagna singing two arias from Le Cid, Angela Gheorghiu singing ‘Habanera’ from Carmen and Bryn Terfel and the Royal Opera Chorus performing the majestic Act I Te Deum from Tosca.

The Royal Ballet will present world premieres from Alastair Marriott and Wayne McGregor, a UK premiere from John Neumeier and a work by Christopher Wheeldon, along with pieces by Ashton and MacMillan.
