French mezzo-soprano Béatrice Uria-Monzon will replace Christine Rice in the role of Princess Eboli for all performances of Don Carlo due to an acute chest infection. To recover, Christine requires a period of complete vocal rest.

Béatrice Uria-Monzon will make her Covent Garden debut in the role, having previously sung it in Berlin, Vienna and Toulouse. Her other roles have included Giulietta in Les Contes d’Hoffmann at La Scala, Milan and for the Metropolitan Opera, New York; Charlotte in Werther for Rome Opera, and Judith in Bluebeard’s Castle for Paris Opéra. Her recent roles include Venus in Tannhäuser in Paris, Carmen in Barcelona and for Zürich Opera, La Fenice, Venice; and Ghita in Der Zwerg for Paris Opéra.

The rest of the cast remains unchanged.

I'm very sorry for Rice, and very curious about Uria-Monzon, who I only know as an excellent Carmen.
