Following the announcement last week that Russian baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky has withdrawn from Il trovatore, the role of Count di Luna will now be sung by Ukrainian baritone Vitaliy Bilyy.

Vitaliy Bilyy makes his Royal Opera debut as Count di Luna, having previously sung the role for the Metropolitan Opera, New York; Opéra National de Paris and Bavarian State Opera. Other recent engagements include Alfio in Cavalleria rusticana and Amonasro in Aida for Opéra National de Paris, Giorgio Germont in La traviata for Vienna State Opera and Dresden State Opera, Miller in Luisa Miller for San Francisco Opera, Teatro di San Carlo, Naples, and Budapest Spring Festival; Prince Yeletsky in The Queen of Spades for Teatro dell’Opera di Roma and Paolo Albiani in Simon Boccanegra for La Scala, Milan.

The rest of the cast remains unchanged.
