We recently released our new Autumn Season film, starring the Minotaur and five Artists of The Royal Ballet. If you haven’t seen it yet, watch the film and tell us what you think.

The trailer was shot over two days at The Backstage Centre at High House Production Park in Thurrock, home of our scenery workshops and the National Skills Academy. The industrial set required five brave dancers from The Royal Ballet to perform on a (perfectly safe, but still terrifying) wire floor, 40 feet up in the air. Smoke and ambient lighting gave a real intensity and atmosphere to the film.

The film is intended to reflect the symbiotic relationship of Covent Garden’s two resident companies- The Royal Ballet and The Royal Opera – with the performance and artistry of each fuelling the other. Each company is depicted in the film as giving its all, emotionally and physically, to support the artistic life of the other.
