Art plus opera at Whitechapel gallery
Art auction and performance by The Royal Opera Chorus to raise funds for gallery's education work.
Opera and art meet for a fundraising evening on Thursday 15 March at Whitechapel Gallery.
Alongside an auction of art, the proceeds of which will fund the gallery’s diverse education work, the evening will see performances from The Royal Opera Chorus. Attendees will be transported to the style and spirit of the 1920s with dining options including an oyster bar and vintage cocktails, as well as an Italian menu by Angela Hartnett with Smart Hospitality. The auction will be followed by DJs and dancing into the night.
The Art Plus auction is supported by Swarovski and will be conducted by Sotheby’s. Work by artists including Philip Allen, Michael Craig Martin, Sir Howard Hodgkin, Robert Holyhead, Janice Kerbel and Lisa Millroy is on offer with each of these artists bringing their signature styles to bear on the brief.
An annual event, Art Plus explores the dynamic fusion of the visual arts with other mediums including drama, dance, film or music – culminating each year in a one-night only, unforgettable party and performance event; a celebration of creativity.
