Who better to look behind the scenes of The Royal Ballet than one of our own dancers? Over the last five years, First Artist Andrej Uspenski has been photographing the dancers at rest, rehearsal and during performances to capture what life is really like as a Royal Ballet dancer.

Speaking about the book, Andrej describes it as 'more of a story than a collection of individual pictures. It shows a day in the life of a dancer, from daily class and rehearsals to backstage preparation and performances' and even captures Melissa Hamilton on stage, showing us the dancer's view of the auditorium.

The images have been brought together in the book 'Dancers' and a selection is currently on show in the Amphitheatre Restaurant.

Dancers: Behind the scenes with The Royal Ballet is available to buy online now from the Royal Opera House Shop. To make a reservation for the Amphitheatre Restaurant, please call 020 7212 9254.
