Dance Dynamic is a free training program which offers teachers the chance to explore and develop innovative in-school dance projects. Teachers work with artists of the Royal Opera House to share ideas and learn about new approaches to creative dance and how to guide students in producing original work.
Dance Dynamic is open to both secondary and primary schools across the country and takes place during the spring term. The projects comprise the following key elements:
- Teachers INSET day 1
- Teachers INSET day 2
- In-school visit by Royal Opera House artist
- Schools sharing of work
- Royal Ballet stage rehearsal at ROH for students and teachers to watch
Teachers are given personal support and resources to enable them to confidently lead an eight week creative dance project in their school with a year group of their choice. Royal Opera House artists visit the schools and teachers and provide them with supporting resources both online and in paper form.
The teacher workshops were a fantastic opportunity to work in such an amazing place, and I learned so much from them. We have been so impressed by the children's response to the project. The children began to show a focus and determination that amazed everyone. Their sense of pride and achievement after the performance was wonderful to watch - they were so delighted and proud of their creation.”
