We asked primary school students to submit their questions for Ermonela Jaho, the world-renowned Opera Singer who sang the title part in our 2016/17 Schools' Matinee performance of Madama Butterfly. Watch the film with your class to find out what life is really like as an opera singer.

Things to think about in advance:

  • How does Mozart use the power of 3 to help tell the story through the music? How can you use this in your writing?
  • How do the music, costumes, lighting and set make you think about different characters?
  • The idea of opposites - light and dark, religion and science, love and hate.
  • Listen to Peter and the Wolf and discuss how Prokofiev used themes and motifs in music to introduce the characters.

We will provide full resources before your visit to help your class prepare.

This matinee performance is available to Key Stage 2 and will last approximately 3hrs 10 mins including one interval.
