Working with Music Education Hubs
The Royal Opera House is proud to be working as a partner organisation with five music education hubs in the Thames Gateway. As part of the strategic partnership from 2012 – 2015, the Royal Opera House is working with Barking & Dagenham, Essex, Havering, Southend and Thurrock music education hubs to support their work and to create musical opportunities for young people in the areas.
Take Five Summer School
The Take Five Summer School aims to provide opportunities for young instrumentalists and singers from across Barking & Dagenham, Essex, Havering, Southend and Thurrock to come together for three days to develop their musicianship and musical development, alongside professional Royal Opera House and music hub artists.
In 2013, the summer school focused on exploring Bizet’s opera Carmen through whole group ensemble playing and singing, intensive sectional rehearsals and creative sessions. Find out more about Take Five 2013.
Take Five is open to any 11-18 year old living in the five music education hub areas who plays an instrument or sings and is interested in music-making with other young people. There are places available to suit all grade levels and experience so we encourage you to apply no matter what stage you are at.
If you are interested in applying please contact Kate Hodson, Learning and Participation Officer by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
