What is ROH Thurrock?

The Learning and Participation team in Thurrock run a wide range of projects and events to develop links with the community and get people enthused about opera, music, ballet and dance.

Inspiration Days

Discover just what goes into creating the world-famous productions of the Royal Opera House by going behind-the-scenes at the Bob and Tamar Manoukian Production Workshop.

Community Chorus

Royal Opera House Thurrock offers local residents the opportunity to find their voice with the Community Chorus. The chorus meets weekly during term time and is open to anyone aged eight and over.

RM19 Youth Singing Group

RM19 is Thurrock’s newest vocal experiment, for local residents aged 11 - 25 years old. Working with Artistic Director Dominic Peckham, singers explore music ranging from pop, rock and hip-hop to opera and other classical genres.

Chance to Dance

Chance to Dance works with 30 primary schools to provide a creative introduction to ballet for all Year 3 children through a mix of Royal Ballet demonstrations, weekly classes and practical workshops.

Dance Dynamic

Dance Dynamic is a free programme that helps teachers to explore and develop innovative in-school dance projects by working with artists of the Royal Opera House.

Professional Development for Teachers

There are a wide range of projects and courses in Thurrock designed to help teachers and professionals explore creative learning and develop their skills in opera, ballet, music and dance.
