John Cranko’s ballet adaptation of Pushkin’s verse-novel, set to music by Tchaikovsky, trembles with emotional charge.

This event is part of the Winter 2014/15 season.


Cranko’s choreography incorporates an eclectic range of dance forms, including folk, modern, ballroom and acrobatic, and is accompanied by Kurt-Heinz Stolze’s soaring arrangement of Tchaikovsky’s music, drawing principally on his works for piano.

These talks will be led by Ursula Hageli. During a performing career of over thirty years her repertory included most of the leading classical roles, and she had many roles created for her. In 2005 she joined The Royal Ballet as Ballet Mistress and retired in 2012.
