Valeri Hristov

Valeri was born in Sofia, Bulgaria and trained at the State Choreographic School. In 1995 he joined PACT Ballet, South Africa as a Demi Soloist and from 1998 danced in Japan as a guest artist before joining Pacific Northwest Ballet in 2000 as a Soloist. He joined The Royal Ballet in September 2002 as a First Artist, was promoted to Soloist in September 2003 and to First Soloist in September 2006.
His repertory includes the Prince in The Nutcracker, Basilio in Don Quixote, Franz in Coppélia, James in La Sylphide, Conrad in Le Corsaire, leading roles in Les Sylphides, Concerto, Paquita, Agon, Dumbarton Oaks, Torque, L’Apres midi d’un faune, Aract, [soundaroun(d)ance], Almost Tango, Monotones, Romeo and Juliet, The Sleeping Beauty, The Merry Widow, Chaconne, Giselle and Western Symphony.
Since joining The Royal Ballet he has made his debut in Frederick Ashton’s Scènes de ballet, the Lead Couple in Les Rendezvous, the side Neapolitan couple in Ondine, Lysander in The Dream, the Pas de deux from Birthday Offering, and The Queen of The Waters’ Consort in Michael Corder’s Water variation in Homage to the Queen. His Kenneth MacMillan’s repertory includes The Judas Tree, 1st Song Grey Boy in Song of the Earth, Glen Tetley’s Voluntaries, the Orange couple in La Fin du Jour, Colonel ‘Bay’ Middleton in Mayerling, Paris in Romeo and Juliet, the Dancing Gentleman in Manon and an Officer in Anastasia.
He has danced Jiří Kylián’s Sinfonietta, Wilfred in Peter Wright’s production of Giselle, the Pas de trois in George Balanchine’s Ballet Imperial, the Indian Prince and Florestan in the Monica Mason and Christopher Newton production of The Sleeping Beauty, Turkish Suitor in Natalia Makarova’s production of The Sleeping Beauty, The Groom in Bronislava Nijinska’s Les Noces and the Pas de trois and the Rag Mazurka Boy in Les Biches.
He has also created roles in David Bintley’ Les Saisons, Robert Garland’s Spring Rites, Peter Quanz’s Fantasy (2005) and Alastair Marriott’s Tanglewood (2005).
During the 2007/2008 Season, he made his debut as Romeo in Romeo and Juliet and danced as part of the 1st Principal Couple in Emeralds. He also danced the male role as part of the White Couple in Les Patineurs.
