Chief Operating Officer
Sally O’Neill joined the Royal Opera House as Director of Finance in 2009. From February 2013 to August 2013 she was Interim Chief Executive until Alex Beard took up his position at the start of the 2013/14 Season, when she became Chief Operating Officer.
Sally read Natural Sciences at Cambridge then qualified as a chartered accountant with Deloitte & Touche. Taking up an Arts Council Training Bursary, Sally had the opportunity to train in arts administration working with the National Theatre, the Young Vic and Southern Arts. She then joined the British Film Institute as Finance Officer before becoming a Financial Controller at the Royal National Theatre. She went on to hold senior financial roles in television including Channel 4, ITV and QVC.
Prior to her arrival at the Royal Opera House, Sally was Finance Director of Historic Royal Palaces.
Sally also holds non-executive roles as trustee of the Young Vic Theatre and Battersea Arts Centre, and is also a trustee of the Charity Finance Group.
