Introduction to Opera Directing: The Royal Opera in partnership with the Young Vic

We are looking for developing theatre directors with a curiosity about the operatic art form. On Tuesday 11 December 2018, from 10am to 8pm, The Royal Opera, in partnership with the Young Vic, will be holding a one-day course at the Royal Opera House which will give you an insight into the world of opera directing, and an understanding of the skills and techniques required to make it a career.

Participants will observe professional directors and singers investigating scenes from different operas, have the chance to talk to leading figures from the sector and attend a performance at the Royal Opera House.

We are no longer accepting applications, but please look out for future courses. Successful applicants will be contacted by email on Friday 30 November 2018.

For any questions, please contact Jennifer.lambert@roh.org.uk

Introduction to Opera Directing is generously supported by The Carne Trust.

Applicants should note that this is not an offer of paid work. There is no charge to attend the course and we can offer reasonable travel expenses to those coming from outside London. We actively encourage applicants from backgrounds presently under-represented in opera to apply.
